When we think of the afterlife, we think of something mystical, cosmic and unreal. Also a little boring. The Bible explains the afterlife in vivid terms. First; man is an eternal soul and when he ceases to exist, the soul lives on forever and there are 2 destinations. Either Heaven or Hell.
Heaven - described as a city whose builder and creator is God; It’s described as paradise. Take for instance, a city such as L.A. or any city with crime and uncertainty. Heaven is a beautiful city with a culture void of robbery and crime. It has all the great things that other cities have and a whole lot more. Best of all, you will be in the company of God and past friends and family that have died in the faith. Heaven is far greater than anything that you’ve ever dreamed of.
However, just as there is a real place called Heaven, there is also a place called Hell.
In Hell, we are aware of everything and aware of the passing of time. Take for instance a long day at work when you think time is moving, but not as fast as you would prefer. The Bible speaks of it being a place of torment and eternal separation with God. So we all have a choice to where we will spend eternity. Heaven isn’t a default location for every Christian.
We must make a choice daily to follow Christ. If you make that choice, then you know certainly that you will go to Heaven when you die. God has put before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life that you might live.
